All Dreamed Out (from August Everywhere), Blinker the Star
Inspired by your Cardigans post I’ve decided to share one of my favourite songs in a similar vein, albeit a bit more off the beaten path.
Blinker the Star is a “band” (it’s essentially one guy) from Canada that has created some of the most interestingly orchestrated and awkwardly angsty music in the genre. It’s impeccably studio polished, with layers and layers of smoothly tracked guitars, percussion, synths and vocals, while being a smart little nugget of a song. But there’s something about it that doesn’t feel quite right, whether it’s the disillusioned lyrics or the lush soundscape itself.
I also have a huge penchant for vocalists who sound like they’re really giving it their all and totally struggling to hit the notes-we have much in common.
